MITATA: IMAGINING THE BALCONY OF KYTHERA

It was the winter of 1973 and it was my first trip to the island of Kythera. At once I was drawn to the intriguing history and architecture of this island and to the beautiful vistas of what was then a cold and wind-swept landscape. Although based in Livadi we ventured out to explore the island and one of the towns that stood out and which has always remained vivid in my mind was the village of Mitata in the verdant centre of the island. As the author Peter Prineas in his recent book, Katsehamos ...

Book 'taps into my own passions' Professor tells Roxy audience

Bingara Advovate, pages 1 & 2, Vol. 73. No. 11, Tuesday April 4, 2006.

'Katsehamos and The Great Idea' is an engaging book that taps into topics and experiences which are close to my own passions. It pulls together family history, immigration history and local history. It provides strong portraits of individuals, their personalities, desires, frailties, failures and achievements. It locates Australian experiences in a broader world context, especially a context which links to ...

George Miller's Mad Max III - Beyond Thunderdome

Mad Max III
Beyond Thunderdome

by, LES TURNER

Fan reaction to the third Mad Max film is a little varied. Some like it, some don't. I have mixed feelings about the film, sometimes I think it is a better film, and then sometimes I refuse to even admit that there was a third Mad Max film even made. Either way, the film was a success, and tells another story, and shows another side, of Max.

If Dr George Miller was diagnosing the Australian film industry, ...
