This photo of my grandparents was taken about 1920. Sam (Spiridon Levoune) was born on Aroniathika in 1898 and came to Australia on the Polynesian in 1911. He met my grandmother in West Wyalong and then worked for his brother George Levoune in Balmain.

This is the first portrait of newly married Stamatia (nee Nikolasou) & Jim Aroney (Theodoropoulos) from the village Aronyiathika, Kythera. They eloped in Athens, Greece, in 1923 and then travelled to Australia. Initially they settled in Bundarra, N.S.W, where they ran a café and picture show.
