My three cousins whose father was murdered

These are the three daughters whose father was murdered.(See entry 2/2/05) From left: Popi Elpida and Nina Zervoulakou. After their father's death, they received a letter from the King of England with medals for their services to the British by keeping British spies in their house.

My mother and her sister Titika

My mother with her sister Titika Zervoulakou. My aunt Titika was married to Leonidas and had three daughters. During the war they were hiding in their house British spies and had many close encounters with the Germans. Eventually he was murdered by Greek political parties.
My mother had a shocking accident in Kythera in 1962 and was killed by a truck while walking my blind father towards Kapsali.

My Grandmother with my sister Nina and brothers 1937

In this photograph, which was taken 1937 my grandmother Eleni with, from left late brother Giannis,sisster Nina,at the back late brother Hristos and in front Spyros as a five year old. This photograph was found only yesterday.

My sister Nina with her Godparents 1921

This photograph was taken in 1921. In the photo,my sister Nina Petroheilos nee Kalokairinou (well known in Kythera in the supermarket in Hora) Her Godparents were Panagiotis (Mpompos) Karatzas and Evanthia Karatzas.They had no children and she was treated like their own daughter.

King Paul and Queen Frederika in Hora 1948

Walking in Hora outside of "Estavromenos" church after a service held in that church.His next stop was the Scouts Hall in Hora.Scoutmasters were Andreas Fatseas(Maths teacher at high school) and Georgos Masselos (Physics teacher)

Calocerinos(kalokairinos) Valerios Yianni

 My father Valerios was well known in Kythera with his shop in Hora. Born 1893 died 1969.He was blind the later part of his life. His wife Maria met a tragic death while walking with him to Kapsali in 1962.The eikonostasi is just below the public school in Hora.

Unknown Kytherian girls 1928

This photo was held by Pipitsa Semitecolos nee Kalokairinou(Calocerinos) from Hora.It is possible that the girl on the left was Pipitsa,but I never knew her until I met her in Sydney in 1950,so I can't recognise any of them. Can anyone please add to this?

Pipitsa Semitecolos(Semos)nee Kalokairinou

 Pipitsa Calocerinos (Kalokairinou),was married to Peter Semos from Temora NSW.Peter,died 1949.Pipitsa was born 1919 and died 1986.They had four children.Philip,Valerios,Katerina and Peter. Later she married Anthony Cassimatis, who lives now at NSW Central Coast and enjoys good health.They had no children.

I left Kythera for Australia in 1950 and this photograph was taken with the family that was still in Kythera. Please note: Our family have never had a photo with all of us together as my sister Pipitsa left Kythera when I was only two years old. I met her in Sydney for the first time. Semitecolos(semos) Panagiotitsa(pipitsa) Pipitsa

Pipitsa was married in Kythera to Petros(Peter) Semitecolos(Semos) in 1934. Peter was in Australia for a number of years before his marriage and worked at Barmedman NSW with Greg Samios(Kotsifos) then he owned a restaurant at Temora. They had Four children, Fotis(Philip),Katerina married to Eustace Alfred, Valerios married to Katina and Petros(Peter) After her husband's death she married Antonis Cassimatis(Vouros)

Calocerinos(Kalokairinou) Maria and Pipitsa 1923

 My mother was born in Kythera. Her maiden name was Nikolopoulou and her parents were from Gytheon. She was educated at the Naxos Girls Catholic School and received her degree in French. She was killed in a horrific accident in Hora while walking with my blind father to Kapsali 1962. Her eikonostasio is just below the Hora public school.She was born in the year 1900 .In the photo with my sister Pipitsa(later Semitecolos,Semos) from Temora.
