My uncle, George Combes/Coombes was the firstborn son of Anastasios (Ernest) and Spiridoula (Lily) Combes/Coombes. Anstasios (Ernest) and Spiridoula (Lily) married in December 31, 1923, and arrived in Australia on the ship the "Largs Bay" in August, 1924. George was born in Tenterfield, New South Wales on October 20, 1924. He later joined the Royal Australian Air Force, enlisting on January 12, 1943 until November 4, 1946. At the time of leaving the RAAF, he was a Leading Aircraftman in the 78th Squadron.
