This letter was sent to my grandmother Yanoula (Lulu) Chlentzos by the United States Army, confirming the death of her son Philip Chlentzos, who was killed in action in France on July 27, 1944. Philip had received the Purple Heart medal for wounds sustained in the French invasion, and had recovered and returned to action.
