Visting the land of my Grandfather, Nicholas Jerome Kasimatis (b. 1890) on 4 July 2017. Having a drink at Arachtopōleio in Avlemonas to celebrate my 60th birthday. A lovely group of elders sat at a table near us. They were also celebrating some occasion with a dessert and drink when they began singing. Not knowing Greek, I couldn't say what the words meant but I thought I recognized "Ameriki" and "Agapi"; so sad and beautiful.
