OPERA COMES TO KYTHERA

The first-ever grand opera production to be held on Kythera will take place in the evening of Saturday, 8 August, in the open-air amphitheatre of Zeidoros Cultural Centre in Kapsali. A street version of Georges Bizet’s famous opera Carmen produced by Opera Lab Athens will be staged by a talented group of young Greek professional singers.

They include Erifili Giannakopoulou in the role of Carmen, Dimitris Paksoglou (Don Jose), Leto Messini (Frasquita), Chryssanthi Spitadi (Mercedes), Nikos Karagiaouris (Escamillo), Lefteris Harellis (Remendado) and Angelos Hondroyannis (Dancairo), accompanied by Liudmilla Koslovska on the piano. The sets are by the Kytherian painter Manolis Charos and the costumes by Franka Papandreou.

The performance is part of the summer program of the Kytherian Foundation for Culture & Development (KIPA), organised with the assistance of the Kythera Cultural Association. OPERA COMES TO KYTHERA - carmen s
