Theo George Andronicos and friends,Sydney April 1901
Like many other young men of that era my grandfather, Theo George Andronicos served his apprenticeship with John Comino of Oxford Street, Sydney.
In this photograph dated, April 1901, Theo is the young man, aged 20, seated at the front. We believe the paper in front of him is the certificate he received at the end of the apprenticeship. Theo arrived in Sydney in 1897 on board the ship SS Oruba.
We do not know the identity of the other two men, but my mother thinks they were fellow musicians, one a bouzouki player and the other a mandolin player who accompanied my grandfather who played the violin at Greek community dances.
