I think this may be the brother of my grandfather Panayiotis K. Coroneos (Bellos) from Potamos. I undestand his name was Cosma Coroneos. He was the only one of the 5 brothers to not emigrate to Australia on account of his disability. I am led to believe he was subject to a childhood disease which affected his normal development, but as a result he was ridiculed by the children and basically treated as the village idiot. It would be good to get more information on Cosma if anyone can verify that this is indeed him. - pc

My grandmother Despina Livaditis (nee Sophios) can confirm that this is indeed Cosma Corneos. She knew him as a child and recognised him right away when she saw this photo.

I have taken this picture to many Karavitika Symposium - and many attendees of this function have confirmed to me that this is indeed Belo Kosma - as he was known. My interest is that on my maternal side - my grandfather was Theothosios Coroneos - also known as Belo - but from Karavas. I have never been able to work out with other descendants of Belos from Potamos - how the Karavas and the Potamos Belo's were related. I am hoping that the newly launched Family Tree section - may help to establish the connection. George C Poulos.

As everyone has confirmed this is indeed Belo Kosmas. He was the youngest son of Kostandinos. There were 11 children in all - 5 Boys (Panagiotis, Spiro, Manolis are the only names I remember) and 6 girls (Marigo - My Grandmother that married a Theodore Kalogridi/Fardouli - Stamatiko - married a Samios, Hrisanthi - married Minas Bavea, Eleni - married Andrea Koroneo/Psomas and another sister that lived at Kousounari but I don't remember her name). I believe that there were two other children that died as infants. According to my Grandmother, Kosmas suffered Typhoid when he was a baby. The resulting prolonged high fever was deemed to be the reason for his retardedness. All of Kosmas' brothers came to Australia. In order to ensure Kosmas' livelihood, his father made a will where all the family assets went to Kosmas and only after his death did they transfer to the other brothers. One of my earliest boyhood memories was my Grandmother giving me hot meals to take to her brother at the other end of town. He died in the early 1960s.

An additional note on Belo Kosmas. Kosma used to live in an old house at Potamos' Kato Horio and at Syllaka next to Belo Manolis' house.
