Benardos ~ this is the beginning

I do not know where to even start, but here it goes..My great grandfather left a fishing village in the Peloponesus..some time around 1850...went to S America and landed in Chile..Where all my BENARDOS branch of that tree is from.. My father moved to the USA in the early 1960's and here I am.
Im trying to get further information from Chile as to more precise information on the great grandfather, but so far if you have any suggestion let me know.
My youngest daughter searched for our last name roots in Greece are the reason why I'm here, she found your web site a few days back.
