I am searching for anyone related to Lambros Andres Tsirigotis born 1894 in Greece, most likely Athens. He had a sister Elaine (American version of her name). In 1916 Lambros came to America aboard the USS Patris, arriving at Ellis Island. He settled in western Pennsylvania where he worked in coal mines. Following his marriage to Anna Mae Pekic in the early 1920s he opened a restaurant in Morgantown West Virginia. He remained there until his death in 1961. Related families are Mandanas and Lanos.

I am a lawyer in Sydney Australia. Some 4 or 5 years ago I was a Mediator in a minor building dispute between what turned out to be an Italian builder and a Greek house owner.Neither party knew my name or my ethnic origins but during the course of the mediation I was puzzled by the surname of one of the parties, "Tsirigotis". It was the 1st time that I had heard of the word as a surname and decided that when the mediation was over I would ask him about his name. It turned out that he was a migrant to Australia from a town in southern Greece known as Molaos {I don't know the correct spelling} and that his forebears were originally from Kythera but as his family name was too difficult to pronounce, he adopted the name Tsirigotis when he came to Australia.I then asked him the obvious question which was---- "what is your family name" and he replied "Diacopoulos". I couldn't believe my ears. To this day I do not know whether there is a Kytherian surname Tsirigotis or whether it is a convenient adaptation to preserve some link with the past.I am still intrigued by its origins. In case it is of any assistance there are some entries in the Sydney phone book under the name Tsirigotis as follows: C.@76 Staple St. Kingsgrove N.S.W.2208 ph.95021637 G.@5 Roslyn St. Ashbury N.S.W. 2193 ph.97993943 J.@ South Creek Rd. St. Marys N.S.W.2760 ph.96284336 M.@ 29 Beauchamp St. Marricville N.S.W.2204 ph95594891 V.@ 36 Wverley St. Belmore N.S.W. 2192 ph 95917755 For good measure there is also a "Tsirigodis" T. @ 54 President Ave. Kogarah N.S.W. 2217 ph 95931557 and also a M.Tsirigotes at 34 Allen Ave. Petersham N.S.W.2049 ph95603402 Happy hunting John Diacopoulos.

I made contact with Barb & the Lanos family in U.S. We are directly related. My grandfather Athanasios Tsirigotis (my name) is younger brother to Lambros. My father worked on the ships & settled in Western Australia in early 1960s as a teenager. Met my mum, who is from Kastoria (Norther Greece) & here we are. According to my dad & relatives back in Greece. We originally come from Anti-Kythera & our surname, was originally Lambrou. In having made contact with the U.S side of the family, I have been able to learn about my Papou's family & see wonderful photos of them. This site has been an amazing journey for me.
