Australian and Kytherian culture mark an iconic day
Melbourne cup features a day of fashion, champagne , races , bets and as nation stops behind the scenes are the women that worked hard to promote a celebrative gathering of which monies are raised for many causes.
The Kytherian Association and Sydney Kytherians, as one of the first settlers of Greeks in Australia have continued in the tradition of this year’s Melbourne Cup day by organising a luncheon that took place at the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The luncheon raised money in order to donate for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Amongst the attendees were the Ladies Auxiliary members, first and second generation women who meet once a month to organise events keeping their diaspora alive.
Major sponsors included Queens Park Fashion and Fardoulis Chocolates. The catwalk fashion parade resembled a runway of a Milan or Paris show unveiling a spring collection of the latest resort , daytime and evening apparel. The celebrity super models parading were the wonderful team of the KAA ladies auxiliary.
Approximately 180 attendees enjoyed a sumptuous lunch and with an annual hosting held that continues to inspire a Greek heritage thousands of years old.
Raffle tickets and sweeps were sold for prizes donated from Sydney local businesses and a national chain store. Everyone was a winner with their efforts of mingling, dressing and accessoring in true Melbourne Cup style of colourful hats , feathers and flower fascinators.
The race to collect lucky door prizes gift wrapped and best dressed attire champagne winner fillies showed their true spirit of success to the victorious end of national great day.
The mystery photographer, the only male present capturing the moments of Kytherian women is the new kid on the block, recently joining the committee of the KAA.
Sharing and connecting with our fellowship is a link to highlights, a day in festivity of the Kytherian Melbourne Cup Sydney Australia 2010.
