A settlement on a hill in the southern part of Kythera, divided into Ano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Strapodi. The church of Saint John the Forerunner in Kato Strapodi was erected in 1570, though an earlier church may have stood on the same site. Families of the Kalligeros clan reside here—a surname found on the island in this form since the 15th century, and earlier as Kallegarios from the early 14th century. The first Kalligeros may have arrived from Crete following the Venier family's attempt in 1350 to settle new families on the island. Strapodi is mentioned in all sources from the 16th century onwards. In Ano Strapodi stands the church of Saint Minas. The name Strapodi is enigmatic—it may have evolved from Stravopodi or Stavropodi for reasons of phonetic economy.

Giagia and pappou at ages 74 and 84 still cruising between Strapodi and Livadi for their groceries. The photo ws taken in 2001 and its how i will always remember them.
