Entrance at Mylopotamos

Entrance at Mylopotamos - entrace

I took these picture years ago and can't remember if it was in Hora or in the old town in Mylopotamos. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone knows where this symbol comes from and what it is supposed to depict.

These photos were taken at Kato Hora. The keystone in the top of the arch suggest stonemasons of a superior class were employed to construct the building - most likley Venetian. Note the dominating feature of the winged lion which was the symbol of the Serene Republic of Venice 'Skoulandris' Peter Makarthis Inverell NSW Australia
