Greeks Visit Armidale
Service in Peter’s Cathedral
Greek residents from the North, North Coast, the North West and as far south as Gosford, will attend a meeting of the newly formed Australian-Hellenic Education and Progressive Association at Armidale on Wednesday.
His Grace Archbishop Timotheos Evangelinidies, accompanied by three other members of the Greek clergy in Sydney will be present, and will conduct a service in St Peter’s Cathedral at 11 o’clock. The general public are invited to attend the service, at the conclusion of which the Greek visitors and residents will march to the Soldiers Memorial in Central Park where a wreath will be laid on the monument.
Luncheon and dinner will be provided, and at night a dance will be held.
The principal objects of this association are to promote a better understanding between Greeks and Australians: to foster Australian sentiment among Greek people: to each English to those who require assistance and to help the hospitals and charities.
