Updates for two photographs

I found your Web Site fascinating and spent a long time reading the information about Gilgandra, Barraba and Gunnedah. I enjoyed it so much, that I extracted some of the data and took it back to Gilgandra for a family reunion.

I sat down with a man called BOB JOHNSON and he filled in two gaps that you have with your information.

For photograph 102, in the Photography Diaspora - Cafes, shops and cinemas the names were Paul Kelly, Fay ?, Stan ? and George Lorandus Farouk; the person Fay ? is Fay Spencer - her mother used to have the Fish & Chip shop and Taxi in Miller Street.

The Fish & Chip shop at that time was where Noonan's Jewellery shop used to be (now vacant).

For Photograph 97 in the Photography Diaspora - Cafes, Shops and Cinemas, the Newsagency was owned by Tony Gralic's Father (Bob could not remember the father's name).

Bob Johnson seems to have a fantastic memory of the history around Gilgandra and the events that occured in the late 40's and onwards.

If you need to talk to him, he is more than willing to do it. He does not have a computer, so you will have to sit down with him, with photographs etc.

Again, thanks for sharing the Kytherian Family history and those of the areas where I (we) grew up.

All the best and keep up the good work of preserving our precious history.
