Family of Peter George (Tzortzo)Poulos.
Warren, New South Wales.
In 1928, as a 14 year old, Peter George Poulos, migrated to Australia.
He went to live and work with his brother Dimitri George (Tzortzo)Poulos, who had arrived in Australia in 1922, and was established in the town of Goulburn, NSW.

He became very ill as a young adult, with rheumatic fever, which left him very weak -and damaged his heart.
In 1937, brother Myna arrived in Australia, having left wife Frosso, and a young family of 4, (including the youngest Dora - 6 months old at the time) - in Kythera. The family was separated by the events of WWII.
Myna was sponsored to Australia by Kapitan, Mina Tzortzopoulos, then living in Cobar, NSW. Myna (the younger) stayed in Cobar for 2 years.
In 1939, Myna and Peter established a business in Warren. The onset of WWII thwarted plans for a family reunion. It would be 1947, before Myna COULD bring his family from Greece to Australia.
In that year, Myna sold his share of the business in Warren to Peter, and travelled to Melbourne to be reconciled with his family. Soon after he moved to Sydney, where he stayed for 6 months.
His brother-in-law Tassos Levantis brought him to Goulburn, and the family lived with their aunt Yriyoritsa for 6 months.
In September 1947, Myna moved to neighbouring Crookwell, where he established a business.
Meanwhile, in Warren, in 1949, Peter married Aryiro, known as Sylvia, Aloizos.

Peter recovered from his bout of rheumatic fever. Gradually he established a vibrant Fruit and Vegetable business, in Warren, NSW.
Coupled with the shop, he owned, and worked on, a fairly large acreage on the River, where he grew fruit and vegetables in commercial quantities.
He was also a sports enthusiast, sports administrator, civic leader, and bookmaker in the town. A Warren personality - and "the life of the town". His style replicated that of Jack Vanges in Nyngan, and Paul Kelly in Gilgandra.
In June 1948, youngest brother Con(standinos) arrived in Australia. Initially, he went to live in Goulburn were the rest of the Tzortzopouli were established. He ended up working with Peter in Warren, however, where he stayed for 18 months.
After Peter married, it was decided that the business was not large enough to sustain two (future) families. Con went for a long tour of NSW country towns, looking for a shop to purchase. Eventually he rented a premises in neighbouring Gilgandra, from fellow-Kytherian Jack Pentes, after paying £1,200 "key money".
Peter died of heart failure, in his sleep, on Christmas Day, 1959, leaving a wife, pregnant with child, and 4 other young children to fend for.
Sylvia continued to manage the business in Warren for many years.
This photo was taken on the 11th of December, 1963 - a few years after Peter's death.
