“GREEK CAFES & MILK BARS OF AUSTRALIA”
LECTURE IN KYTHERA
Authors of "Greek Cafes & Milk Bars of Australia", Effy Alexakis and Leonard Janiszewski will be in Kythera this northern summer to present an extended version of their popular café and milk bar history lecture.
Kytherians were conspicuous in Australia’s food-catering industry particularly from the 1890s through to the 1960s – numerically dominating Greek involvement with food catering in New South Wales and Queensland. Alexakis’ and Janiszewski’s lecture will be both a celebration and "home coming" of Australia’s Kytherian café phenomenon.
Numerous historical and contemporary photographs will accompany the lecture and the presenters’ book will be available for purchase and signing.
When: Friday 20 JULY 2018
Time: 9.00 PM
Where: SYNDIASMOS HALL, HORA, KYTHERA, GREECE
