From: http://www.greekhotel.com/ionian/kythera/pitsinades/home.htm Guest House PITSINADES is open since June through September offering a most friendly atmosphere. Aroniadika, Potamos GREECE 802 00 Information: Eleni Giannakaki, Tel.: +30- 27360-33877 bookings: at the above address and/or Winter Tel.+30- 210-4173702 The GUEST HOUSE PITSINADES is situated in the medieval village Pitsinades, in the vicinity of Aroniadika, in the island's center. It is created by a splendid restoration of a small group of Kytherian houses: Vaulted rooms, a classical upper floor, one more room with an arc and flat terrace on top, two stonepaved yards full of flowers and a sun bathed veranda. The hostel offers two- and three-bed rooms, all equipped with a small fridge, full bathroom, direct access to the yard. The floors are decorated with pebble mosaics, the woodwork is traditionally Kytherian. The thick stone walls of the vaults provide a pleasantly and naturally cool temperature even at the hottest days of the summer. Pitsinades is a tiny village in the center of the island, near to the also medieval village of Aroniadika, and in roughly equal distance to all important spots and beaches of Kythera. Some of the houses one sees today were probably there when Barbarossa burned up Kythera -and Pitsinades as well- in the 16th century. Among them the chappel of Panagia (the Virgin Mary) Tsikouriotissa where some of the original 16th c. wallpaintings have been preserved. Nearby, reachable by short pleasant walks, one can find the old Byzantine capital of the island Paleochora, the historically significant monastery of Agios Theodoros, the very beautiful villages Perlegianika, Aroniadika, Logothetianika, Aloizianika. During the last few years there have been important restoration works to some private houses and the village streets. Now Pitsinada is one of the most beautiful villages in Kythera. There are no cars in the village, the streets are stonepaved, the serenity is absolute, the sunsets unforgettable
