On a clear day from the lower half of the island you can see one of our neighbours.. CRETE ...in this photo im at the beach , visting site of the famous end of the movie zorba the greek , when their well laid plans all collaspsed and as all greeks do to get over a greek tragedy is to .. dance !!.. Great movie and a thrill to be on the very place that anothny quinn and allan bates performed that famous end scence of zorbas dance ...

in its time aroniathika was a very large village, noth of the island near potamos, walk through this lovely classical village to see some beautiful old neo classicial homes..
the small village of trifyllianika, the village commenced after the destruction and sacking of the fortress of paliochora, the village dates back to early 1600's , trifyllianika is ideally situated close to potamos being only 2 klms away .. has wonderful views of mainland greece , mountains of agia moni... my home village !!
the village of kato chora near mylopotamos, kato chora was one of the islands fortress's to protect the inhabitants of invading pirates , the fortress is in the bottom of the photo , once the pirate era ceased the people that onced lived in the protected walls commenced the new communities of kato chora and mylopotamos, now you can walk through the desserted past fortress and see how they lived some 600 years ago and also watch the magnificent sunset from the castle ..

Big families, dozens of animals to keep, and lots of fields to clear. All these Kytherian rocks moved over the centuries to make the walls which still stand today.

the church at agia pealagia over looks the village and gives her blessing to this famous kytherian village .. where we all have had so much fun swimming and dinning with love ones and friends over the years ..

big easter tradtion on kythera , after the church services and fasting its time to have a big lunch and celebrate the fact that christ has risen ...the traditional cooking of the lambs at agia pelagia on easter sunday for lunch with loves ones and friends .. then fowolled by dancing with a band and dancing on the road .. kalo paska everybody ..shame it wont be happening this year ...

classical kytherian small village of trifyllianika ,, settled in the late 1600s from mainly survivors form the destruction of pailchora ... the village is walking distance from potamos.. and the end of the road past the village is a small winding track to the fields and somtimes running spring .. where in times gone by the local village people would have and water their crops and the women would wash all clothes and also take drinking water back to their ...
