The fishing village at the southern tip of Kythera; a supply ship from the mainland puts in once a week. On a clear day you can see Crete, 64 kilometres across the water

The women have arrived by donkey, and are using spring water to wash their clothes.

The spring obviously ran much more freely a half century ago.

Karavas with Almond tree in blossom. 1950's.

A classic Emmanuel Sophios photograph of Karavas (in the 1950's?), with an almond tree in blossom in the foreground.

Note the order of the town, and the highly maintained terraces.

The church of Ayios Haralmbos is the high point, and the kendro of the village of Karavas.
