Several passengers from Kythera travelled to Australia on the SS Derna in 1948. Front row:(l-r) Stan Travasaros, Mattie Travasaros, Vassilki Fatseas, Petro Fatseas, John Cominos. Kastrisios siblings

The photograph of brother and sister Dimitris Kastrisios and Maria Protopsalti is in classical post card form, however it seems the brother has been photographed at a later date than his sister and afterwards been collated onto the image, which has perhaps then been re-photographed.

My three cousins whose father was murdered

These are the three daughters whose father was murdered.(See entry 2/2/05) From left: Popi Elpida and Nina Zervoulakou. After their father's death, they received a letter from the King of England with medals for their services to the British by keeping British spies in their house.

My mother and her sister Titika

My mother with her sister Titika Zervoulakou. My aunt Titika was married to Leonidas and had three daughters. During the war they were hiding in their house British spies and had many close encounters with the Germans. Eventually he was murdered by Greek political parties.
My mother had a shocking accident in Kythera in 1962 and was killed by a truck while walking my blind father towards Kapsali.

In this photograph, which was taken 1937 my grandmother Eleni with, from left late brother Giannis,sisster Nina,at the back late brother Hristos and in front Spyros as a five year old. This photograph was found only yesterday.

This photograph was taken in 1921. In the photo,my sister Nina Petroheilos nee Kalokairinou (well known in Kythera in the supermarket in Hora) Her Godparents were Panagiotis (Mpompos) Karatzas and Evanthia Karatzas.They had no children and she was treated like their own daughter.

"Matzorou's" wedding day

Matzoros is the grooms nickname, he is famous on the island for walking long distances in bare feet so as to save his shoes from the wear! on the back of the photograph, obviously a gift from one friend to another, the reciever is advised to get a good laugh from the whole scene at Matzoro's expense.

Workmen repairing the wall at Papoo's house

Repairing one of the stone walls at my grandfather's house in Logothetianica.
The man in the front is my aunt's brother, Con Gavrilis's uncle. I don't remember his name - maybe someone can help?

Boyhood friends in Kythera

My uncles with a couple of friends. I think the person far left is a Semitocolos?, Next is my Uncle Theodore Gavrilys, next is a mister Cassimatis, who I think used to own a restaurant in Long Island New York the Ship-Ahoy, Next is my Uncle Peter Gavrilis, Father of James, Theodore, Con, and Nick.
