Theodore and Athena Pascalis; 1940's.

Theodore and Athena Pascalis, taken in the 1940's.
After spending many years in Australia, Athena Pascalis wrote a very moving poem about her memories of Kythera, (Ta Kythera)which I have included in the Greek Section of the web-site.

Notice the amphora jars all around.
Does any have knowledge of these jars and are there many of them around the island??

Gregoria Cassimatis (later Fardoulis)

Gregoria Cassimatis (1914-1998) of Pitsinianika, daughter of Petro (Sikoufao) Cassimatis and his wife Maria (nee Tzannes).
In 1938 she migrated to Australia and married Emmanuel Fardoulis that year at Kingaroy.

Eyklia Samios's family

Eyklia Samios, the head of the family, sits infront flanked by family members. From left to right: Nikos, Eyklia jr, Sofia, Anastasia, Panagiotis and Theodore. This branch of the family is the only one to have remained on Kythera, all the others migrated to Australia.

Mavromatis Family - Logthetianika

L to R: Loula, Stamatoula, Jim, Manuel, George & Jack. Photo taken outside their home in Logothetianika approximately 1929. Stamatoula remained in Kythira with her mother Smaragdo (nee Kalopaidis). The others emigrated to Australia early 1930's. Their surname was later changed to Black.
